Join the GhostBSD Team

If you want to take an active hand in making GhostBSD even better, there are many ways you can help. What role do you want to fill?

This is a starting point.

There are many ways to participate in GhostBSD, this page is just your starting spot. Financial contributions are discussed on the funding page. Making changes to the GhostBSD wiki is discussed on the wiki editing page.

The GhostBSD Project itself is made up of many different projects, called sub-projects, that come together to make the GhostBSD Project what it is. These projects share their resources and are a part of a unified community.

Documentation

The GhostBSD Documentation provides documents and reference materials to assist users of GhostBSD Project releases.

Localization

The GhostBSD Localization Project(l10n)'s goal is to translate the software, documentation and websites associated with the GhostBSD Project.

Marketing

GhostBSD Marketing aims to expand both the user base and contributor base of the GhostBSD Project.

Ambassadors

The GhostBSD Ambassadors project furthers the goals of GhostBSD Marketing through grass-roots efforts and event coordination.

Design

GhostBSD Design (formerly known as the Artwork Team) is responsible for enhancing the look and feel of the GhostBSD Project through graphics and sound.

Infrastructure

GhostBSD Infrastructure provides and maintains many of the critical technologies that keep the GhostBSD Project running.

Websites

The GhostBSD Websites project, an initiative under GhostBSD Infrastructure, aims to develop and maintain the GhostBSD Project formal websites and to coordinate with community websites.

Internationalization

GhostBSD Internationalization (i18n) focuses on making GhostBSD work well for many international languages.

News

The GhostBSD News is our new spot where you can read up on GhostBSD events, GhostBSD board meeting notes, updates within the GhostBSD project and GhostBSD itself.

Distribution

The GhostBSD Distribution Project manages the various aspects of distributing GhostBSD on physical media. This includes managing the programs that distribute GhostBSD on physical media and organizing and maintaining information from vendors.

Writers

  • develop, package, and maintain applications like input methods for different languages.

  • quality-assure that existing applications meet i18n standards.
  • support the infrastructure of the GhostBSD translation community.
Packaging and Porting
  • become a package maintainer to create and maintain RPM packages for software in GhostBSD.
  • join the Package Review
Bug triage
  • track down and shoot GhostBSD bugs in bugzilla.redhat.com.
  • strive to be a bridge between users and developers that aids in fixing and closing bugs.
Usability
  • improve end-user experience with coherent, accessible and intuitive interfaces for GhostBSD.
Websites
  • improve GhostBSD's image and create the best possible interface for users and contributors on the Internet.
Fonts
  • package new fonts and font tools,
  • review font packages before GhostBSD inclusion,
  • fix font or text problems in applications and libraries,
  • propose good GhostBSD fonts defaults,
  • identify font or text problems in applications and libraries,
  • improve font package descriptions and summaries to help users choose the right fonts for their needs.
Testing
  • test/break GhostBSD.
  • do quality assurances to help maintain a robust platform for GhostBSD.

Communicators

Description of this role: Communicators interact with people at events and online!

Free Media
  • help the GhostBSD Free Media Program to distribute GhostBSD media (DVDs & CD's) for free to individuals.
Marketing
  • develop marketing strategy to promote the usage and support of GhostBSD worldwide.
  • support the efforts of other GhostBSD projects to spread GhostBSD and help provide a central repository of ideas and information that can be used to deliver GhostBSD to new audiences.
Mentoring
  • become a mentor in the GhostBSD community and help, empower and mentor people in your area of expertise.
Support/help
  • provide help and support on mailing lists and in GhostBSD IRC channels on Freenode.
  • provide Feedback to Developers about bugs.
Usability

  • convince foundries to release fonts under a free/libre or BSD friendly license,
